FAQs

Where are you based?

I am in the beautiful Adelaide Hills. Travel fee outside of a 20km radius does apply for all services provided, up to 25km. Outside of 25km, I unfortunately cannot provide my services.

What will a Doula bring to my birth?

Where do I even begin? A Doula honestly, is something every woman should have access to. We are there to bring a calm, gentle approach to labour, birth and postpartum. 1 in 3 women currently leave their birth experience with trauma. As a Doula, I want to make sure you leave your birth feeling it was a joyous occasion, even if things didn’t go totally as expected. I want you to reflect on it with feelings that light you up, not feelings of shame, sadness or what the f$@k just happened?! That is my promise to you.

For more information on exactly what a Doula does, please see WHAT IS A DOULA?

My partner isn’t on board, how can I convince him you’re worth it?

It can be hard to explain to your partner how important birth preparation is! I want to offer support to your partner so that they know and understand what it is they can do to make your labour a better, more calm experience. To invest in a Doula, is to invest in one of the most important days of your life. I am not there to take over your partners role, in fact I am there to help them step into their role so that they are not running around like a headless chicken. In what capacity can I hire you?

Some Doulas are only available to do full birth packages, from pregnancy to postpartum. It’s important to me that I offer a wide range of packages to suit all mamas, as I know not everyone has the financial privilege to use a Doula through their whole journey. You can hire me for 1 appointment or 10 appointments. I pride myself on having a range of customisable packages, with virtual packages for those who feel online support suits them best.

I have knowledge in all areas pregnancy, labour and postpartum.

Do you decide my birth?

Absolutely not. I am there to empower your decisions in whatever way you want to birth. A Doula brings energy to the room while also making sure decisions that are made during labour and not due to coersion and are completely informed. I am there to make sure we say ‘‘hey, we would like some time to discuss this’’.

This is YOUR birth, YOUR way. I do not hold any authority in your birth and it is important both you and I are fully aware of this. Also, I am not a trained medical professional in any way, so whilst I can be there to help be your sounding board and be your ultimate birth wing woman, ultimately all decisions are yours and I cannot provide medical advice in any nature.

Can I still use you if I want to use pain relief/having a Caesarean/intervention?

I want to empower any decisions you make. If you feel comfortable and confident in your choices for these things, then I have your back 100 per cent. I will never make a woman feel less then if she decides to have intervention. Birth is very easy to talk about in hindsight, but during it can be a whole other story. I will be there to help you go back on your plan if you start to deviate however the decisions are yours, and I will be there for you no matter what.
